Feeling grown up

Wow it’s been a while again… Life, you know. In the last month, I…:

1- wrote the LMCC. I will get the results on June 17. It was the weirdest exam ever, seemed barely related to actual medicine. Let’s just hope I passed!

2- graduated. Graduation took place in a hotel/resort. I was wearing
that dress bought from etsy, in black. It was fun, but the food was just so so, especially considering the $$$ we were paying. Ah yeah, I won the “award” for “most likely to have a one night stand that night” with one of my best friend... DIDN’T HAPPEN ;)

3- spent countless hours shopping online for my future apartment and browsing design blogs. Really inspired by
that loft on apartment therapy. Still looking for the perfect couch. Thinking about buying the Eames rocking chair in white to go with said couch.

My dining table is going to be the Kartell Top Top in black. I wanted to buy it online from
Gabriel Ross, so I wouldn’t have to pay PST, and also because you have 10% off when paying with your Visa card. The only problem is that they don’t have it in stock, so I would get it in 4-5 weeks. In 4-5 weeks, I’ll be a resident. Not sure I’ll be able to be home between 9-5 to receive a delivery. Having known that, I would have bought it 2 weeks ago and everything would be perfect! So… still thinking about how to proceed with that one! Anyone bought furniture from allmodern.com before?

I bought my appliances last week. Stainless steel fridge, oven and dishwasher for the kitchen. Whirlpool Duet washer, with the steam dryer. I don’t want to iron, ever.

I also upgraded my TV services to HD. Now I just have to buy a big flat screen ;)

Yes, I’m very excited to move. Only 2-3 weeks left!

Living in Canada isn’t bad, that’s for sure, but for a shopaholic like me, it’s a pain in the ass. I love shopping online. I started years ago, when it was pretty new and people were afraid of getting robbed ;) Now, you can do everything online, even your grocery shopping, but Canada is too often left behind.

Why am I talking about that? Wait, it’s coming...

I hate sports. I don’t work out. But when the weather is nice, I like to take long walks in the park and enjoy the sun. Plus, with bikini season coming up, it cannot hurt to get my butt in shape, right? So, yesterday, I went for a walk. My sporty shoe collection consists of two pairs of Puma, from the “lifestyle” section. Which means they are pretty to look at, but aren’t gonna get you to the Olympics. Let’s just say that I ended up with a nasty blister. I thought it was a good excuse to buy new shoes, so nike.com it was. I customized a pair of Nike shox, with the NikeID thing (you can even get your name on it, how cool is that?!)... only to realize that it’s not available to Canada!! I’m so pissed!
Nike, you are dead to me...

The dentist actually went very well. It was my first visit there. I’ve been to the same dental office all my life, in my hometown, but I figured it was time to find a new one over here. So my new dentist is a woman, 30-35 yo, very nice and professional but still friendly and laid back. And I don’t have any cavities, so that’s a plus ;) All in all, a pretty good experience.

New shoes = great day

I received my new Camilla Skovgaard. I save so much money in therapy by shopping instead! New shoes definitely make me feel better. The leather on these is so soft. I have yet to wear them outside, but from what I can tell by trying them on in my apartment, they seem pretty comfortable, as long as 4” go.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning, I wanna cry :(

So, today was my biannual visit to the garage to get the oil change and the winter tires removed. The garage is on my way to work and there’s a bus stop right in front, so I always leave my car there in the morning, spend the day at the hospital, and then get it back after work. So, I called a few days ago, made an appointment for 9am, dropped the car at 8 this morning and came back at 3pm. When I got there, someone was actually driving my car to the back. I went in asking pretty much WTF?!, and the guy (the one who took my keys this morning) told me they still needed to change the tires, because he thought I would come back around 4pm or whatever, and that they had been really busy all day. Heeee very questionable excuse. If someone took the time to actually call and make an appointment, and that said appointment is at 9am, you change the fucking tires at 9! Anyway, it’s not like I had a choice, so I took a seat and waited. He told me it would be 30 minutes max. An hour later, I was still there, pretty much hyperventilating... The manager (I guess) came to see me, told me that he just heard about my situation, that it was really unacceptable... Asked if I wanted to borrow a car and come back tomorrow. Gee, I would have taken the offer an hour ago! At that point it seemed useless.... He then told me they just had to change the oil (yes, the first guy actually acted like that was already done from earlier today). Anyway! I finally left after freaking one-hour-and-a-half!!! Oh yeah, did I mention that I had nothing with me, no books, nothing to study, no iPod... And I was wearing 4” heels, so I couldn’t really make the 30 minutes’ walk home. At least, the manager was almost as pissed as I was, so I ended up not paying...

Yes, I feel better now.

Can I live in your office?

I’ve been catching up on last season TV shows. I love TV and watch a ton of shows, but I just can’t find the time to watch a show on a regular schedule. So, right now I’m watching the third season of Ugly Betty and can’t stop noticing the furniture! Now that I’m in full shopping mode for my future apartment, I read lots of design magazines and blogs, and I’m now addicted to designer furniture. Seriously, it’s as bad as shoes and handbags (talking about shoes, I just bought new Camilla Skovgaard... to be continued). The MODE office (returning to Ugly Betty) has many of my favourite pieces. I spotted the famous Louis Ghost chair (gonna be mine someday...)

Charles Ghost stool
the Panton chair

Heller's studio 65 Capitello sofa

the Bourgie lamp (also gonna be mine...)

I guess someone shares my love for everything Kartell ;) I really can't wait to move!!! I can already tell you that my dining table and chairs will most probably be by Kartell...

In the meantime, I have to go back to my books... the countdown to the LMCC has started!
