Digital Media for Independent Film makers

Digital marketing is a new way of seeing through the eyes of consumers; there is a paradigm shift accruing in digital marketing versus traditional marketing.  It is giving traditional marketing a new life in a digital way.  For independent filmmakers with limited advertising dollars, digital marketing can increase your profit margins tenfold using digital media to create a buzz and draw your audience into your world, creating a successful film debut.  According to Rob Stokes “The Essential Guide to Marketing in a Digital World,” there are steps that need to be taken into consideration to successfully draw audience for your film, product or service.  In his book he expands on the importance of four strategic processes, they are:

1. Think; simply put, research, plan and strategize.  With the Internet all three can be accomplished, thus providing vital information on demographics, market analysis and challenges that need to be addressed.

2. Create; creating a presence by using posters, website, video, banners, games and interactive media etc.  Creating an interest so that potential customers in their curiosity will open the door, become potential customers, and create a Fan base.

3. Engage; use different avenues to reach out to your most important assets your consumers, this builds trust confidence and creates a sense of loyalty.

4. Optimize; analyzing your campaigns is vital to your success, tracking results will tell you if things are heading in the right direction or changes need to be accomplished to produce positive results you’re looking for.

These steps can be adapted into any business venture, product, or service.  By engaging in these steps, an Independent film production company can explore the human senses targeting groups depending on the genre whether it is comedy, adventure, action, horror etc. by giving the consumer a sense of involvement, they can express their emotions and interact with what is offered to them through a digital platform.  An example of this is Lionsgate with “Hunger Games” where one can interact and get involved in the revolution and tour the capital itself, provided by Lionsgate on the web.

You see by providing fans access to the film’s actors, cities, background, film clips through multi media, you are creating and expanding a fanbase, and Potential consumers to the film’s products and paraphernalia, regardless if the film is a success or not.  The importance of using digital media could make the difference in a successful small budget film taking off and gaining popularity versus a big budget film with a small percentage going into advertisement using traditional methods.

Future Of Independent Film Production ?

Future of Independent film Production

After doing a little research of independent film production companies and its future, there are several key points to discuss, whether there is a future for independent film production companies or not?  In my opinion yes. As the film business fast approaching 100 billion a year in global revenues the independent film companies are taking a bite and growing, one example, when Neil Ortenbers, announced plans to start a new career in film production and has launch a production company called Insurgent Films.  Another great example of independent film is independent production company, Gateway films.  Not to forget that female production companies are well on the growth, example Game changer films, or chicken and egg pictures are just a few.
There are numerous companies out to establish and leave there marks, and If you are wondering, if there is a creative directory in every major city?  Yes there is, one example is production resource directory for the Hollywood area, a good source for finding Independent film groups.
With advancing technology becoming available to small groups of creative independent film seekers, the quality and amount of work, which can produce close to Hollywood style films, are a present day reality.  What makes one company better than the other?  Well.  Several things, first compared to the big six film production companies, are lack of money or better yet a lack of budget, is a disadvantage.  The bigger the budget the more they  can  allocate towards special effects and attracting, A-list actors.  If the budget is low then the company either compromises or look for other ways to attract more investors.
Bringing your film to the mid or big screen, is using the web to promote your film such as YouTube.  Videos are being widely used to help drive online sales. However as I see it, can be used as another avenue to attract Investors/capital and collaborators to continue a project or promote the independent film in mind.
The advantages of being an independent company are several first, they receive all the profits,  compared to the big six, were profits are spread out to keep within budget and keep shareholders satisfied.  Big films required big budgets; in turn small independent films can produce a very good quality film on a smaller budget, by having the right team and collaborating there efforts with others that share the same passion.  In my opinion having a great story, is what I believe will make or break a company period.
In addition, there is less pressure on the small independent film, due to its smaller budget unlike the big six; this gives a company freedom to be creative without the pressures of the management and their nuances.  Another Advantage is that they have complete control over what they decide to produce given even greater freedom to create.

With ever changing advancement in technology, we are slowly seeing more and more independent film companies on the horizon, whether it’s a good thing or not, I leave that to your infinite wisdom.

Future Advances in Mobile devices For entertainment Business

With the announcement of the I-phone 6 and the apple watch, we are witnessing great advancements in technology that will not only streamline any business but it will make it more efficient more creative within the business, providing the tools, to work smarter, producing better result and staying ahead of the competition.
It was not that long ago when Laptops came out, they were heavy, had slow processors, you needed it's own suitcase on wheels just to travel with, and setting up an office area dedicated to that big laptop was part of every day reality.
Now jump forward to the present all of what was then futuristic is now a reality, new ways to use computers have proliferated in recent years, touch screens have become popular on smart phones and tablets such as the I Pad. So let’s take a look at some of the advancements, how about making an old dusty laptop futuristic, how? By taking a little rectangular device and placing it next to your old laptop it becomes a touch free wonder, it is 200 times more sensitive than a mouse, works in 3-D and extends up to 200 feet of workable area. How about using your eyes to control your laptop and gadgets making it even faster to use, performing such things as moving text with your retina, and for gamers an invaluable tool.
How about taking your office anywhere with you by rolling it up and setting up your office virtually anywhere, imagine the idea that a headset could control the functions of a laptop and gadgets with your thoughts, something from a science-fiction movie, or taking your laptop or gadgets in the form of a pen or on your wrist and placing it on any surface and it becomes hologram, projecting a full functioning screen and keyboard.
With such fierce competition in the technological world comes innovation pushing the envelope beyond the imagination creating new ways to make the laptop and or gadgets more productive with better battery life, faster smarter processors, new design, better user interface, better communication, and more storage, all combined with sleek and stylish futuristic design.
Now the definition of what constitutes technology is changing no matter how you look at it with laptop computers and other gadgets, they are getting more convenient more capable as well as environmentally friendly, yes in every way evolutionary is what comes to my mind, this in turn levels the playing field for many businesses including the entertainment industry, with the right technology in the right hand of a creativity individual amazing opportunities opens up and the world is within easy reach. So the future is bright and the future is now.
